Facial Skin Care Products
Most skin care regimens which focus on facial skin care usually include a wide range of facial skin care products. Different formulations are used for different types of skin so it is important to determine your particular situation prior to using skin care facial products. Below are some of the common products used and their benefits as part of a complete facial care program.
Cleansers - these facial skin care products are designed to clean the skin by removing surface dirt, pollutants and toxins as well as open the pores. Facial skin cleansers generally used to prep the skin so that it is more receptive to the other products that will be applied. Cleansers are most frequently used at night since they are effective in removing makeup. when using facial skin care products such as cleansers it is important not to use them too frequently as they can dry out the skin.
Astringents - these skin products work to deep clean the skin and cause the tissue to contract or shrink. This allows the pores to also constrict which can firm the underlying tissue beneath the skin for a firmer and tone appearance. Skin care astringents are normally used after removing makeup and before using facial moisturizers. They are also common acne solutions.
Skin Toner - toner works in a similar fashion to skin cleansers and astringents in that it deep cleans pores and is effective at removing foundation and oil that has accumulated on the surface of the skin. These skin products work well in removing the debris that cleansers may have missed.
Skin Creams - Skin creams are primarily used to moisturize the face and fight the effects of aging and sun damage. Wrinkles cream and kinerase eye cream are two examples of antiaging facial skin care product that can be used to treat aging skin.
The skin on the face and especially around the eyes can experience wrinkling due to repetitive movement in the facial muscles such as smiling, squinting and laughing ("laugh lines"). These products often contain collagen and moisturizes and though some have shown to reduce wrinkle depths by as much as 10%, they are generally not as effective as other, more advance skin treatments available at your local facial salon.
Moisturizers - this is a broad term that includes the wide variety of facial care products such as lotions and, creams oils and serums that seek to add and retain moisture in the skin. Ingredients like Jojoba, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Keratin and Shea Butter can commonly be found in most moisturizers and lotions. A not of caution for those with oily skin: it is not advisable to use heavy moisturizers on parts of the skin that are oily. This can lead to breakouts. Moisturizers are focused mostly on the treatment of dry skin, stretch marks treatments, and flaky skin.
Skin Cell Exfoliants - these facial skin care products help to remove dead skin cells and improve the appearance, smoothness and radiance of the skin. Excellent skincare choices for exfoliation include facial masks and scrubs with salt or sugar bases and can be used with sponges and brushes. These scrubs act as abrasives and remove loose and dead skin cells on the upper layers of the skin. The result is skin that is smoother, clearer and rejuvenated. Those with skin problems such as advanced acne should be careful before using these facial skin care products since it is possible for them to further damage the skin.
